The University Press Library (UPL) is the culmination of a five-year pilot project that addresses the predictability and sustainability problem for university presses through a 100% complete, non-restrictive collection acquisitions business model for academic libraries. The UPL is a digital library of eBook collections from 16 prestigious university presses that are internationally recognized as some of the best presses in the world.

The UPL consists of the complete frontlist collection of coveted university press eBooks selectable by press and by copyright year, including recently digitized and enhanced backlists that provide users with multi/unlimited use. Accessibility and portability are maximized with our DRM-free eBooks. The UPL is an ownership model with a one-time purchase and perpetual rights.

March 10, 2020
Webinar, in English, ER&L Conference Session

Becky Lisek, Michael Zeoli

This session will detail the complex ecosystem that university presses and libraries navigate in a daily effort to disseminate and sustainably support the creation of high-quality scholarly content. This complex ecosystem led to the creation of a 5-year pilot where complete front lists from select university presses were made available for purchase with unlimited usage, no DRM and perpetual rights to a controlled number of libraries. The results of this pilot and recommended way forward will be shared, with a group discussion on future next steps.
