Islamic Studies

Our program in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies is growing and spans a wide range of topics from the ancient Near East to socio-political and religious developments in the 21st century. It covers a variety of topics related to societies and cultures in the Middle East and the Muslim world. The program is intentionally interdisciplinary and includes innovative research on the Qu'ran,

addresses the legal and philosophical dimensions of Islam, offers historical and sociological perspectives, and extends to topics such as digital humanities and secularism. Since 2019 the prestigious Berlin-based publishing house Klaus Schwarz Verlag enriches our portfolio in Islamic Studies.
